How I Run Dragonlance My Dragonlance games are high-power, high-myth, and unapologetically epic—rooted deeply in Krynn’s lore while unshackled from timid balance. This is a world where legends are forged under pressure, where choices echo across continents, and where the gods are present, watching, judging, and sometimes intervening in ways that reshape fate itself. I run Dragonlance as it was meant to be experienced: heroic fantasy at full volume. The party doesn’t stumble into greatness—they are pulled toward it, often before they feel ready. Ancient artifacts awaken, ley lines stir, dragons scheme with terrifying intelligence, and the consequences of action (or inaction) are felt immediately and permanently. The world does not wait for the players to catch up—but it will reward those who rise to meet it. Mechanically, my games are deeply customized and heavily automated, allowing us to focus on drama, tactics, and storytelling rather than bookkeeping. Combat is fast, cinematic, and deadly—enemies fight smart, terrain matters, and every encounter is designed to feel purposeful, not filler. Monsters are often unique, reworked, or entirely homebrewed, especially at higher tiers, where Krynn’s true horrors and miracles reside. Narratively, I emphasize moral weight and mythic consequence. Dragonlance is not a setting of easy answers. Faith, loyalty, betrayal, sacrifice, and hope all matter here—and players are frequently asked not just what they do, but why. The gods are real. Alignment matters. Destiny is tangible—but never unavoidable. New players may begin slightly behind the curve due to the campaign’s extensive homebrew and long-running power scale, but I explicitly design early arcs and Session 0 choices to bring them up to parity quickly. By the end of the third session, every character feels potent, relevant, and fully woven into the story—with meaningful choices about how their power manifests. Above all, my Dragonlance games feel alive. The setting reacts. NPCs remember. Victories change the world, and failures leave scars. This is Krynn during an age of upheaval—where heroes are tested not just by dragons and gods, but by the cost of becoming legends.
